30 day challenge: 13

day 13- A place you would love to move or visit

When I was 16 I got the amazing chance to go to South Africa for a month. My host family lived near Cape Town and when the plane circled the Table Mountain my breath was taken. Underneath me I could see the sparkling ocean and every house seemed to have a pool. This must be heaven! And I was not disapointed. I loved the malls, the perfect weather (definitely was born in the wrong country) and the beaches. Cape town is surrounded by mountains which make it so special. I learned to love the relaxed South African lifestyle and the friendly people who always were so happy to meet me. I visited many places in South Africa and two years later I got to stay for three entire months. I am so glad I got to see this beautiful country which offers so much more than poor people and racism. If I get the chance I would love to return and stay for a while. Did I mention the German school in Cape Town has a pool which overlooks the entire city? Wouldn't it be perfect if I could be a teacher there one day?

Our love story

In 2006 I spent several months in South Africa and my new years resolution for 2007 was to finally get my first real boyfriend. I had like 2 affairs (as I call it) before, never something really serious. The guys liked me and I liked them, but I never felt like they were THE ONE. I did not believe in having too many boyfriends since I would have to break up with them again, so I waited. But now I was 18 and I felt ready for something serious. I came back to Germany around the tenth of January and a week later I accompanied my best friend to check out a guy (as we called it). Apparently, she did not like the guy too well so his friend and I started talking.... and never stopped since. When the other two were fed up with listening to us, they said good- bye and we went to Mc Donalds (to only place open in our little town past 2 in the morning). There we talked some more and on the way back he shyly took my hand *such a great feeling* When I finally lay in my bed I couldnt sleep. My stomach was full of butterflies :)
The next morning I got up early and started doing my school work. Needless to say I couldn't concentrate. He had given me his cell phone number and asked me to call if I liked (He never believed I actually would). Somewhen, I finally called and he took me out on our first date that evening :) He was so romantic back then. We watched the stars and he told me stories. Before I got out of the car he gave me a bible. At this time I considered myself a Christian, but never really read the bible.
The next days I could barely concentrate as I had to think of him constantly. I lived to talk to him in the evenings (veeeeery long conversations). I never doubted we would one day be together, but I didn't want too become to serious (kissing stage) too soon. However, when he tried to kiss me one evening a few days later I. just. could. not. resist. It was the best kiss ever. So careful and full of love. This was the 30th January 2007.
The first year we were totally in love. I never felt so happy. My life was perfect. I finally had everything I had ever wanted (this was not only due to him I may ad). Naturally, this is not the case anymore, but I still love him deeply. I feel like he has known me my entire life and is truly my best friend who I can confide in. We may have had some tough hard times (when he started studying and joined a fraternity and started to spent lots of time there, the 2 months he spent in Canada and THE kiss) but still we stay together. Many of our friends have started and ended relationships since then. We are still here. I couldn't live without him anymore. I do a lot for him and he does a lot for me. Sometimes we argue, we drive each other crazy, but most of time I'm just thankful I have him.
Love you Hendrik, with stars on, always and no matter what!
